The American Pet Products Association (APPA) is the leading not-for-profit trade association serving pet product manufacturers and importers.
Founded in 1958, APPA's membership has grown to nearly 1,000 pet product manufacturers and importers representing both large corporations and growing business enterprises.
APPA's mission is to promote, develop and advance pet ownership and the pet product industry and to provide the services necessary to help its members prosper.
The association conducts industry-related market research, scientific research, and educational seminars and promotes responsible pet ownership. APPA also works closely with other major organizations dedicated to similar goals to identify and help fund research projects; and monitors and responds to legislation and regulation.
APPA's Pet Products Trade Show, The Global Pet Expo, has become the largest annual pet products trade show in the world and is listed in Tradeshow Week 200. This annual listing of the top 200 North American trade shows is compiled by the Los Angeles, CA trade show industry publication "Tradeshow Week." One of the show's highlights, the New Product Showcase and Best New Product Award, features the pet product industry's latest innovations, and awards winning entries in eleven categories: aquarium, bird, dog, cat, equine, gift, holiday, pond, small animal, reptile and point-of-purchase display.
APPA also provides a variety of member services including the National Pet Owners Survey, which is published every two years. The survey provides the most comprehensive statistics available on the current pet population, owner demographics, purchasing habits, and market trends.
