Things you should know!Grieving the Loss of a PetPets mean a lot to their owners! In fact most owners consider their pets to be a part of the family. Whether it’s a greeting at the door, hanging out on the couch or the comforting feeling of companionship, the emotional bond between owners and their pets is powerful. Losing a pet can often be traumatic and upsetting and can trigger feelings of grief and sadness. Feeling this way is totally acceptable, considering the abundance of love, joy and affection that pets bring to our lives. By embracing these types of feelings, pet owners can cope with the loss, which helps them progress toward fully loving another pet again. Immediately after losing a pet, it may be difficult to think that getting a new pet won’t fill the void of a lost pet. However, research suggests that a new pet can help the mourning process by introducing a new addition to your family, not a replacement. Making new memories with new pets can help the grieving process and bring the same love, joy and affection back into a pet owner’s life.
